He is often available after normal business hours because that's usually when computers decide to give us trouble! Scott removed a serious "ransomware" virus from my computer and restored all my files that the virus had "encrypted" even though internet forums and "help" references indicated that it was not possible to recover those files without paying the ransom and getting a decryption key.

• Call Guy to fix your lamp post!  "This" Guy will get your lamp post working again for less $$!  Like Tina and Jagannathan said above, Guy responds quickly and is professional and charges reasonable rates. Everyone's problem with their lamp post is different and if a small solution doesn't work, he'll troubleshoot as many times as it takes. When my lamp post started tripping the circuit breaker randomly, I had all parts replaced one by one, including the socket, but that didn't solve the problem. The wiring didn't appear to be shorting out, but that was the only source left and Guy worked persistently until he found a small nick in the wiring. Running new wiring was not as easy as anticipated, but Guy worked in miserable weather to ensure the job got done in one day, including waiting for me to drive to Home Depot and buy a replacement post when he found the original one completely rusted through at the base. Guy also does HVAC service and other home repairs.  Highly recommend Guy for integrity, professionalism, price and quality.

After several desperate calls to a number of heating companies, I could find no one available to assist me.  This vendor was highly recommended on our community website.  Rick Starling heeded my call within an few hours and resolved the issue. I've had both plumbing and air conditioning work done since that Christmas Eve and have always received immediate and efficient results.

• I lost my heat yesterday after work as did my neighbor. We didn't know until we arrived home around 4 pm.  I immediately got on the phone calling at least 8 companies who all said the same thing, "we can't get to you until tomorrow." I kept trying until I got Mr. Starling.  He came within the hour, had to retrieve the part, and fixed my unit, which took about 2 hours. My neighbor saw him when he arrived looking for my house and asked him to come over when he finished with me."
• January 2010- I was helped out tremendously by the River Oaks website "Vendor's We Like" page and thank Chuck for his recommendation of ACE Heating and Air Conditioning. I woke up on New Year's Eve morning to find that it was 57 degrees in my home. I made several calls and was unsuccessful at getting someone out before the weekend because of the holiday and that a lot of others are experiencing problems at this time of year. I decided to check the River Oaks website and saw Chuck's recommendation. ACE Heating and Air Conditioning/Richard Starling was booked for the day but I was told that if I couldn't get anyone out that day, he would come out that evening. His secretary called me back because he had a cancellation. Richard was at my house by 1:30 PM that day. He left briefly to purchase a part but was able to repair the problem promptly. He offers great customer service and is very reasonable. I readily took advantage of the service plan he offered. He offers a large range of additional services.  I will surely contact him for future projects and repairs.

• Paul came out at 9:00 am on a frigidly cold Sunday, diagnosed a burned out furnace fan motor (which is why I had no heat), located a motor in their Bowie shop (they also have a shop in Edgewater), returned at 10:30 am and had the unit replaced and operating again by 11:30 am. Paul charged me for the cost of the motor and some miscellaneous connections ($325) and only 1 1/4 hours of labor ($150).  He also did  a complete furnace inspection, ran some tests, declared a good clean unit, and sealed everything back up as if nothing had happened. Amazing work and I highly recommend this company.

• This company and their representative, Josh Ralls, worked with me through every step of the process, explained options, did not push extras, and provided the most reasonably priced contract of all of the 6 companies I interviewed about replacing my roof.  When they did the job, they protected my surrounding property and did the job efficiently, effectively in one day.  They have been in business for 40 years, are family owned, and they will be around for a long time to service my roof.  They provided a 5-year labor guarantee on workmanship, longer than many of the other contractors I interviewed. Finally, both from references Corley gave me and reviews on the web at Yelp, Consumer Checkbook, Home Advisor and the BBB of Maryland, Corley Roofing showed up as an honest, diligent, reasonably priced, and reliable business.  I was exceedingly happy with my experience and highly recommend Corley Roofing.  My roof was installed in April of 2020.

• I had Fitchner Services come out and Kevin said that I don't have roof damage. What we thought was loose shingles is actually a hook!  I'm relieved. Fitchner is honest and responsive.

ABSOLUTE FIRE PROTECTION, (410) 544-7771, 836 Ritchie Hwy, Suite 1, Severna Park, MD 21146. State Sprinkler License #004. AFP can maintain and service your system. Even if another sprinkler company has installed your system and you no longer work with that company, AFP can become your maintenance provider. A complete system check is done once a year to ensure your system is working properly. If something should go wrong with the system because of mother nature or any other accidental cause, AFP will be out to the site within minutes of your call. AFP has a 24 hour service process in place. So even if there is a problem on the weekends or late night, AFP is on call.

• Miller fire protection is a good one.  I worked for them some years ago.

WOLF FIRE PROTECTION, (410) 439-9171, 7505 Resource Court, Baltimore, MD 21226. Design, install, inspect and provide 24-hour emergency service on sprinkler systems. They came out same day and fixed the leaky sprinkler head.

BARTLETT TREE SERVICE, 410-305-0353, email Tyler Balderson. Tyler is the River Oaks Condominium Association representative. 

• River Oaks does quite a bit of business with Bartlett Tree Service for large trees beyond the scope of our landscaping service contractor, and is therefore highly recommending them.  They are tree specialists. They brought down all of our dead trees in the fall, 2008, and in spring, 2009, did the spraying for Tent Caterpillars and air spaded all of our young trees around the Tot Lot. Bartlett is dependable and efficient, and they also clean up the debris pretty well.  Tyler Balderson is a master Arborist and a licensed Maryland Tree Expert.  Tyler has helped us out on numerous occasions and we have given Bartlett many referrals, so Tyler is reasonable and very prompt on returning calls.

• Found them listed in the phone book, called them and they came out on a brutally hot night to try and save our dogwood. Also removed and pruned shrubbery.
